We are currently working on the following studies:

Risk and Protective Factors in Problem Gambling

This research is concerned with the identification of risk and protective factors for problem gambling with a particular emphasis upon the role of depression and related psychological and behavioural problems for problem gambling. It is also concerned with studying the co-morbidities that are frequently associated with problem gambling including alcohol and drug use and mental health issues, including depression. This study is funded by the Victorian Department of Justice, Beyondblue and Monash and Melbourne universities.

The Relationship Between Access to Gambling and Gambling Behaviour in Victoria: a Longitudinal Study Using Survey and Community-Level Data with a Focus on Problem Gambling

This study is employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods to study the impact of access to gambling upon rates of problem gambling. A longitudinal methodology is being employed in this study. This study is funded by the Victorian Department of Justice.

Children of Problem Gamblers: Are They More Likely to Develop Gambling Problems?

This study employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods to study the effects of familial exposure to gambling upon propensity to gamble and to develop gambling problems amongst children of problem gamblers. This study is funded by Gambling Research Australia.

Prevalence of Problem Gambling and Regulation in China

This study will employ the Risk and protective factors study methods applied to a representative national Chinese study sample. The study is being lead by the China Centre for Lottery Studies.
