Profile

Associate Professor Fiona McDermott (BA Dip Soc Studs., M. Urban Planning, PhD: Melb) has a joint appointment with the Department of Social Work, Monash University and Southern Health. Her role is to support and build research capacity within the social work staff at Southern Health and to contribute to teaching and research in the Department. She has a particular interest in teaching and supervising higher degree research, undertaking research in health and mental health, and working with groups in therapeutic settings. She has published two books – Inside Groupwork: a guide to reflective practice (Allen & Unwin 2002), and (with Nadine Cameron) Social Work and the body (Palgrave 2007).
