The Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Group

Monash Commercial Managers

The Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Group was established by Monash University in early 2002. It's role is to achieve excellence in the commercialisation and commercial management of the university’s intellectual and physical assets, in order to enhance its reputation and to create value for the university, its people and the community.

The Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Group has two distinct roles. The first is as the holding company for the university's commercial activities. The second is in the provision of services for the university. These services are provided in four areas technology transfer, governance, commercial advice and contract management.

People

Experienced Business Development Managers (BDMs) are situated within Monash University IP catchment areas, (usually within faculties, departments or schools) to provide ‘hands-on’ expertise and assistance in the commercialisation of technology discovery. BDMs are the primary contact point for researchers, investors and/or industry partners and are instrumental in setting up and managing successful research commercialisation transactions across the university.

Services

Legal, patent, financial and administrative services to support the commercialisation of research are provided by the Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Group staff.

The Industry Engagement and Commercialisation Group is continuously adding to the number of projects that provide excellent business opportunities for licensing, contract research, technology transfer and investment. The company captures opportunities and builds relationships to deliver outcomes of commercial value.
