Research Interests

Melissa's primary research interests relate to end of life care in acute care and critical care environments, in terms of management, communication between clinicians and with family members, decision making and the preparedness of critical care nurses to deal with death and grieving.

Melissa's PhD aims to explore the nurse's recognition of  and responsiveness to dying in acute hospital wards.

Melissa has been awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) Scholarship, and a Nurses Memorial Centre Australian Legion Scholarship to undertake her PhD studies full time at Monash University.
