Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery/Bachelor of Laws

This double degree program, administered by the Faculty of Medicine, is available to students who have successfully completed year 1 or 2 of the Monash MBBS program.

Selection

Selection into the MBBS/LLB will consist of the following:

  • Submitting an application form
  • An interview with senior academic and administrative staff of the faculty
  • Obtaining a credit average

Course Structure

The MBBS/LLB program consists of core units from both the Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery and the Bachelor of Laws.  Students are given the opportunity to complete quasi-compulsory units from the Law faculty (successful completion will allow graduates to practice as a solicitor if they wish).  Students are also requested to complete a number of elective units from the wide range offered by the Faculty of Law.

Students who are selected for this program will be required to overload by a minimum of one 6 point credit unit per year, with the duration of the program taking 7 years full time study.

Information Session

An informal information session is held each year where representatives from both faculties present course information and are available to respond to questions from prospective students.  Dates and times for the Information Session will be advertised to Year 1 and 2 MBBS students via Blackboard one month prior to the session.
