10th Vivian Bullwinkel lecture

The tenth annual Vivian Bullwinkel lecture will explore the role of history in the future of nursing.

Associate Professor Pamela Wood will deliver the lecture, 'What influence does history have in influencing nursing futures?' at the event in August.

Dr Wood has extensive international experience as a nurse and historian. She is interested in the ways that nurses can use their understanding of the past to inform their nursing practice and professional concerns today. Recent research focuses on new areas of nursing practice in the marginal settings of rural backblocks, urban slums and war.

Dr Wood joined Monash University in 2011 as an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

The Vivian Bullwinkel Lecture is an annual event hosted by the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Monash in conjunction with La Trobe University and RCNA. The event honours the significant contribution that Vivian Bullwinkel made to the nursing profession.

The 10th Vivian Bullwinkel lecture will be held on Monday 15 August at the Nurses Memorial Centre in Melbourne.

If you are interested in attending the lecture or would like more information contact Janine Johnson on 9904 4521 or janine.johnson@monash.edu, or download the invitation.
