Profile
Leelani Kumari Wickramasinghe obtained her Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2000 and PhD in Information Technology from Monash University, Australia in 2007. She is currently working as a research fellow in the Collaborative Care Cluster Australia (CCCA), a consortium for collaborative care and chronic disease management. Her current work aims at identifying effective treatments and guidelines for patients with chronic disease using the chronic disease management network (cdmNet) data.
Prior to this, Leelani worked in the Intelligent Collaborative Care Management (ICCM) project - an ARC linkage grant with British Telecom. The project was to build a software agent-based collaborative care management system for managing chronic diseases. Prior to commencing her role at the department in 2007, she worked as a researcher in the faculty of Information Technology and as a lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Melbourne Study Centre.
During her PhD tenure she worked as an assistant lecturer in the same faculty. Before joining Monash, she worked as a software engineer for a multi-national company. Her research interests are in the areas of data analysis, and intelligent systems for complex environments. She believes healthcare domain, which is inherently complex, dynamic and rich in data, is one of the best application areas to apply her research interests.
