2009 Dean's Ball – Friday 13 November
The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Dean's Ball is a social highlight of the Faculty calendar, bringing together staff, students, alumni and friends for a night of fun, fellowship and dazzling entertainment. Four of Australia's most exciting leading men have been confirmed as headline performers for the Ball. Josh Piterman (The Ten Tenors), Matthew Robinson (My Fair Lady), Christopher Parker (Crazy for You) and Alex Rathgeber (The Boyfriend) – the lead artists of 'SERIOUSLY SOMETHING'

Dean's Public Lecture Series 2009 – Indigenous Health and Healing Symposium – 'Investing in better public policy' – Monday 9 November 2009
The Prime Minister's Apology to the Stolen Generations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Peoples has reinvigorated Indigenous public policy debates, and re-focussed attention on dire needs in health care. The Prime Minister has responded by announcing a Healing Foundation to address the cycle of trauma and grief in Indigenous communities, particularly those relating to the Stolen Generations.

Free Public Lecture - Healing, Truth and Justice in Canada - 10 November 2009 2.00pm – 3.30 pm
Dr Mike DeGagné is the founding Executive Director of Canada's Aboriginal Healing Foundation, which is governed by a board of leaders from the First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities. The independent foundation is responsible for distributing a $515 million fund set up by the Canadian Government in 1998 to compensate Indigenous Canadians for experiences eerily similar to those of Australia's Stolen Generations. The foundation’s mission is to address the legacy of physical, sexual, mental, cultural and spiritual abuses arising from Canada’s Aboriginal residential school system.

You are invited to be part of the launch of BEAU, and a lecture by Professor Ian Hughes, Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds, and a world renowned expert in the field of bioscience education.
