Alice graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Adelaide in 1993. She worked in a hospital-based Urology research unit, before undertaking research toward her PhD at the CSIRO Division of Human Nutrition in Adelaide. She graduated with a PhD in Physiology from the University of Adelaide in 2000 .
Alice worked as a research fellow at the ARC Key Centre for Smart Foods at the University of Wollongong for over 5 years in the area of functional foods and dietary fats and their effects on chronic disease. Alice joined the Department in 2005 as a Research Fellow for CCRE Therapeutics. Her current research interests include dietary influences on cardiovascular disease risk factors, and the impact of oxidative stress in obesity and other chronic diseases.
