Andrea joined this Department in 2007. She is a Senior Research Fellow with the CCRE in Therapeutics working primarily in cardiovascular research.

Andrea is a registered nurse and completed her registration at the Alfred hospital. She then went on and completed her critical care certificate and worked in Intensive Care at the Alfred hospital for a number of years. She has over 18 years experience in Critical care nursing including over 7 years experience in Cardiology/CCU in senior management roles. She has been an invited speaker at several conferences and is currently a consultant and expert advisor on Nurse Practitioners for the Nurses Board of Victoria. Andrea was also recently appointed to the hearing panel of Nurses Board of Victoria by the Minister of Health for Victoria.

In 2008 she completed her PhD on the benchmarking of heart failure management programs throughout Australia. She was supported by an NHMRC Public Health Postgraduate scholarship and a National Heart Foundation grant. She was appointed to the NHMRC Research fellowship scheme in 2009. She continues to work in cardiovascular research focussing on epidemiological modelling in cardiovascular disease.
