The relationship between inflammation and psychosocial risk factors in the development and progression of type 2 diabetes
The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is rapidly increasing, with the number of people at risk reaching epidemic proportions in most countries. This project aims to determine the effect of the biological risk factors known as inflammatory markers on health-related quality of life in people with normal blood glucose and those people with or at high risk of developing diabetes. In a population-based sample, the findings will provide an improved understanding of the relationships between inflammatory markers and physical and mental wellbeing, and with this, we can start to develop and evaluate interventions to help prevent impairment of quality of life and progression of diabetes risk.
