4th Annual Short Course Intensive: Introduction to Disaster Preparedness and Emergency HealthThis course requires formal enrolment as a Monash Student either in the Graduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters stream or as a single Unit. Numbers are strictly limited. A small number of places may be available for participation as a professional development short course. SynopsisThe World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) recommends that all health professionals should have formal training in the core topics of emergency preparedness and disaster health. This course will provide an overview and develop core skills in this rapidly expanding and important field. Based on previously successful formats, and improved with feedback from last year's participants, this course will include lectures and interactive case study discussions of recent major events to develop understanding, critical analysis and appropriate skills. Who should attend?This graduate level short course intensive will be ideal for professionals of any discipline who are interested, or involved in, contributing to the multi disciplinary health response to major events, which actually or potentially threaten the health status of their community. Applications will be welcomed from individuals who may not hold a Bachelor’s Degree but have significant professional experience in this or a related field.
