A/Prof Terry Loughnan
A/Prof T.E Loughnan MB,BS, FANZCA.Dir Anaesthetic Research and Education, Frankston Hospital , Peninsula Health.
Terry graduated from Monash University as a doctor in 1979 and completed anaesthetic training in Melbourne in 1986. After completing a year as a staff anaesthetist at the Alfred Hospital he moved to the Mornington Peninsula and commenced working at Frankston Hospital where he is still employed. He was foundation Director of Anaesthesia, stepping down after 14 years in that post to take up an education and research post in 2007.
His current role is as a clinician in Anaesthesia three days per week and also undertakes teaching undergraduate students from the Gippsland Medical School, Monash University as well as teaching anaesthetic registrars. He has completed twelve years as a primary examiner in pharmacology with ANZCA. In addition to the above activities he regularly teaches in anaesthesia overseas each year and in 2009 will undertake his third four week stint at KCMC, Moshi, Northern Tanzania, having done a similar time in Kigali in Rwanda in 2008. He is also involved in the Pacific Society of Anaesthetists and regularly teaches on their courses throughout the Pacific Island Nations including Fiji, Samoa and Tuvalu.
