Top endocrinology award won by Monash researcher

Professor Gail Risbridger, Director of MIMR’s Centre for Urological Research and Associate Dean of Research at Monash University, has received one of the world’s top endocrinology awards.



Alumnus named visitor to British Pharmacology Society

Alumnus, Professor Arthur Christopoulos, of Monash University's Department of Pharmacology, has been named the 2007 Visitor to the British Pharmacology Society by his peers in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field.

Diabetes drug's healthy side effect

Alumni Professor Richard Simpson and Dr Anthony Dear are testing a new diabetes drug for its potential to improve vascular health, as well as its primary purpose of regulating blood glucose levels.

Teaching medical history to medical students

First-year medical students had their curiosity awakened to the history of medicine in a new first-year elective.  The variety in research projects ranged from the history of cataract surgery to Islamic medicine to Roman military medicine.  Senior Lecturer, Dr Sanjiva Wijesinha gives an account of the launch of this course.

Professor David de Kretser AC, Governor of Victoria (and former Director of the Monash Institute of Medical Research) and Mrs Jan de Kretser invite all citizens of Victoria and visitors to an open day at Government House in Melbourne on Australia Day, 26 January 2007.

Change of Preference Events

The Change of Preference period in December 2006 is an opportunity for students to change their course preferences to be more in line with their ENTER score results from VCE and if they have had a change of heart on a particular career path.

Monash University is running a number of information sessions to cater for enquiries at this time. More details on change of preferences.
